New line, new mode! Hefei International Railway and Sea Combined Transport Achieve new breakthroughs

A freight train carrying white goods and epidemic prevention materials made in Anhui province arrives in Hamburg, Germany, Feb. 1, 2018. This train takes the Port of Helsinki in Finland as the transit hub to distribute the goods by sea to the Port of Hamburg. It crosses the Eurasian continent and connects Northern and Western Europe in series. The time limit for the whole journey is 21 days, among which the time limit for railway transportation from station to station is 17 days and the time limit for shipping is 4 days. The successful arrival of this train marks the opening of a new route of "Hefei North - Helsinki, Finland - Hamburg Port, Germany" at the Hefei International Land Port, and explores a new mode of international rail and sea combined transport.

Compared with the traditional point-to-point route from Hefei to Hamburg, Germany, the new mode of international rail and sea combined transport is more convenient and rapid. After the goods arrive at Helsinki Terminal, they will directly enter the bonded warehouse of Helsinki Port Area, and then seamlessly connect with each other by ship to the bonded area of Port of Hamburg, saving customers a customs transfer fee within the EU. Under the current market environment of rising international freight, tight railway plan and the difficulty in obtaining export shipping space, this mode fully explores the advantages of multimodal transport, better meets the foreign trade needs of local enterprises, guarantees the transportation efficiency, reduces the logistics cost and simplifies the customs clearance procedures.
